Welcome to the Mouse Mansion
5 January 2012
Some dolls’ houses are bigger than others and the Mouse Mansion, despite its name, is a veritable monster.
In fact it is nearly two metres wide and three metres high and has almost a hundred rooms!
Built by Karina Schaapman, a writer living in Amsterdam, Holland, the Mouse Mansion is made out of cardboard boxes, paper-mache and all kinds of waste material. It has corridors and staircases and each interior is intricately furnished.
Writing about the house on her blog
, Karina explains that it was created as the backdrop to a children’s picture book featuring the mouse characters, Sam and Juliet and their relatives.
The Mouse Mansion will be permanently exhibited in the main branch of the Amsterdam Public Library where the general public will be able to see and enjoy Karina’s amazing creation.
