Dolls' House Inspiration – Blenheim Palace

31 January 2019

Today on the blog we give you another dose of dollhouse inspiration, this time in the form of the beautiful Blenheim Palace.
Blenheim Palace is a country house in Blenheim, Oxfordshire, England. It is the principal residence of the Dukes of Marlborough, and is the only non-royal, non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace. The palace is one of England's largest houses, it was built between 1705 and 1722 and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
We hope you enjoy our round-up of images and hope they inspire you to create something just as grand!

Christmas comes to Blenheim Palace – Part 2!

13 November 2010

We now had all of our houses and accessories in the Palace.  The next job was to get them to their correct display locations – and as the Palace is quite a large building this took some time!

The first location was the absolutely stunning Long Library.  This elegant room will be home to our own Montgomery Hall and Grosvenor Hall for the next month.

If you come and visit Blenheim’s Christmas decorations you will get the opportunity to wander through this beautiful room, marvel at the gargantuan organ and browse the hundreds of books accumulated over the Palace’s history, under the ever watchful gaze of the Duke’s ancestors.  And now, you will also see our beautiful Montgomery Hall, with its miniature replica of Blenheim Palace’s Great Hallway, complete with giant, decorated trees and air balloons; and Grosvenor Hall, with its miniature version of Blenheim’s Long Library decorated an Edwardian boudoir style!

After adding a touch of miniature magic, we ventured down to the servants corridor.

Christmas comes to Blenheim Palace – Part 1!

12 November 2010

You may have already read about our involvement in the Gulliver’s Travels inspired Christmas display at Blenheim Palace – we have been so excited about it that we haven’t exactly kept it to ourselves!

Well, this week saw the start of the display installation!  Starting from Ripley on a very cold, dark and wet Monday morning, we made our way to the stunning Blenheim Palace in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.  Although it was still wet when we arrived, the view definitely brightened our morning!  We pulled up in our van – you need a very large van to transport a Montgomery Hall, Cumberland Castle, Grosvenor Hall and three room boxes – and were greeted by giant Christmas trees!

After watching the skilled decorators of Blenheim Palace put up one of these amazing trees, we carefully bought our stunning houses in to the Palace to start our own display.

See a sneak peak of our display in the next Blenheim Palace blog later this week.

From the littlest to the biggest!

30 October 2010

Treat yourself, and your family and friends to something really spectacular to kick off the festive season this year.  The Dolls House Emporium is very happy to be featuring in the 2010 Christmas display at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire – and as the Palace played host to 20th Century Fox’s latest big screen version of Gulliver’s Travels, the decorations are based around the many tall – and small – tales of Gulliver!

Featuring our Grosvenor Hall, Montgomery Hall and Cumberland Castle, the displays mirror Blenheim Place’s own Christmas decorations.  The Palace’s Great Hall, complete with miniature versions of the outfits worn by Emily Blunt, Billy Connelly and Catherine Tate in the film, has been recreated in Montgomery Hall; Grosvenor Hall plays host to the stunning Long Library which has an Edwardian boudoir theme with beautiful feathers, white lace and glass baubles; and the dazzling dining room set for Christmas dinner has been replicated in Cumberland Castle.  Down in the old servants corridor you will find more miniature magic with a conservatory set for the perfect winter wedding, and a servant scene which we’re sure many who have walked down that corridor in times gone by will recognise!

As well as the miniature displays, we’re sure you will also be in awe of the Palace’s real life Christmas decorations.  Wander through the many beautiful Christmas trees and spot Gulliver’s giant place setting at the dining table!

The display opens on the 12th November and runs till the 12th December.  Enjoy a discount on the usual entry fee at Blenheim Palace by taking your November or December Special Offers Brochure along with you.  For details of opening times and prices, contact Blenheim Palace on 0800 849 6500 (24 hour recorded information service) or visit the website at
