Gritty realism in the dolls’ house
1 February 2012
We are well used to gritty realism in kitchen sink dramas but students from China’s Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts have now brought it to the world of dolls’ houses.
The graduating students have put together a collection of highly detailed and realistic miniature scale models of Chinese buildings and homes.
There is a miniature newsstand complete with tiny magazines, an art studio cluttered with unfinished masterpieces and even a grimy restroom and a butcher’s shop splattered with blood.
It’s certainly a long way from the beautiful homes we all strive to create but the world of miniatures is more than big enough to accommodate lots of different points of view.
