A dolls' house for a gravestone helps the grieving process

26 May 2014

Here’s a sad story – but one where a dolls’ house has made things a little easier for all those involved.

It looks like an over-sized dolls’ house made of real brick.

But it is, in fact, the grave of Nadine Earles in the Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama.

The story behind it is that Nadine wanted a dolls'  house as a Christmas gift.

She sadly died a week before Christmas Day so her parents decided to build her a dollhouse on her grave and they filled it with her toys and belongings.

The idea has split opinion in Alabama and it may seem a little ghoulish to create something that’s full of toys inside and out.

But we say if it gives the family comfort at what must be a time of unimaginable pain, then we’re all for it and we hope it makes things easier for the little girl’s family and friends.
